Kelly Barrales-Saylor has joined Albert Whitman & Company as editorial director. Barrales-Saylor comes from Sourcebooks.

At Sourcebooks, Aubrey Poole has been promoted to the position of associate editor. She will be responsible for acquiring authors and titles for the Jabberwocky and Fire imprints. Poole was previously assistant editor at Sourcebooks, and works out of the NYC location.

Jennifer Cockrall-King will be on NPR's "Science Friday" with Ira Flatow on May 18 for Food and the City: Urban Agriculture and the New Food Revolution (Prometheus Books, 978-1-61614-458-6).

Maryann McFadden, author of The Book Lover (Three Women Press, 978-0984867103) will be on "Reading With Robin" on Saturday May 19 at 7-8 am, streaming live at www.920whjj.com.

Daniel Nayeri has been appointed to the newly created position of digital editorial director of the HMH Children's Book Group. PW caught up with Nayeri, who is finishing his job as editor at Clarion Books, an HMH imprint, to talk about his new post, which he starts on May 27.
Highlights for Children and Boyds Mills Press have made the following new hires:

Rebecca Davis has been named senior editor for WordSong and Boyds Mills Press. Most recently, Davis was a freelance editor working on poetry books for WordSong.

Kerry McManus has joined Boyds Mills Press and Highlights for Children as marketing and permissions manager. McManus will manage marketing efforts for all BMP titles, as well as oversee the permissions business for both BMP and Highlights. Previously, McManus worked in the marketing department of Random House Books for Young Readers.

Teresa Giudice, author of Fabulicious! Fast & Fit (Running Press, 978-0762445448), will be on Fox & Friends, The Wendy Williams Show, and Dr. Drew.

Lisa Bloom, author of Swagger: 10 Urgent Rules for Raising Boys in an Era of Failing Schools (Vantage Point, 978-1936467693), will be on Headline News's Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell.

Jenny Frost has joined Scholastic as ePublisher and senior v-p eBook strategy. Frost, a long-time Random House executive, left that company in 2008.
David Weber, author of The Food Truck Handbook (Wiley, 978-1118208816), will be on The Leonard Lopate Show.
At Algonquin Books, Debra Linn has been named online marketing manager. She was previously the events and marketing director at Books & Books.
Deni Béchard, author of Cures for Hunger: A Memoir and Vandal Love: A Novel (Milkweed Editions, 978-1571310910) will be on Minnesota Public Radio's "The Daily Circuit" hosted by Kerri Miller, May 16 at 11 am CST.


H. Norman Wright, author of What's Next: Navigating Transitions to Make the Rest of Your Life Count (Bethany House, 978-0-7642-0963-5) will be interviewed at 12 pm CST on May 16 on Moody’s Midday Connection.
Following yesterday's announcement that Kimberly Snead will fill the new role of director of brand strategy at Crown, the publisher has announced May 15 that Leigh Ann Ambrosi will join as v-p, brand publishing project director, reporting to Tina Constable.
