Amazon's Japanese E-Book Store Hits Snag

Japanese newspapers are reporting that Amazon has hit a hurdle in its attempt to open a Japanese e-book storefront. According to reports, the retailer has pushed back its launch date for an e-book store in the country, after local publishers declined Amazon's terms. Japanese publishers cite concerns because of what they see in the U.S., where Amazon has come to dominate the retail field after initially offering lower prices on e-books than other retailers. The delay comes after ongoing negotiations between Amazon and Japanese publishers to open a Japanese e-book service.
